During the August Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Dr. Angela James shared encouraging results from the district’s spring End-of-Grade and End-of-Course assessments. Wilkinson County Schools demonstrated growth across several grade levels and content areas from 2025 to 2026.

Notable gains among students scoring Developing Learner and above included:

• Sixth Grade Math: increased 19.6 percentage points

• Eighth Grade Math: increased 13.7 percentage points

• Eighth Grade Social Studies: increased 13.7 percentage points

• Algebra: increased 10.2 percentage points

• Biology: increased 21.9 percentage points

Fifth Grade Math also increased by 3.3 percentage points, while Seventh Grade Math showed continued progress with a 0.6 percentage-point gain.

“These results reflect the hard work of our students and the commitment of our teachers, administrators, and staff,” Dr. James shared. “We will continue building on this progress and raising the bar for student achievement throughout our district.”

Dr. James also recognized Principal Dr. Jamie Paulk and the Wilkinson County High School team for being named a 2025 Literacy Leader by the Georgia Department of Education. The recognition celebrates schools making outstanding progress in helping students strengthen their literacy skills and academic achievement.
