Mercer University College and Career Readiness Field Trip🚌
Students in grades 9–12 from Wilco STREAM Academy participated in a college and career readiness field trip to Mercer University. During the visit, students toured the campus, learned about college admissions requirements, explored academic programs, and gained insight into student life.
The experience provided students with valuable information about postsecondary education opportunities and career pathways. Students engaged with university representatives, asked questions about college preparation, and explored resources designed to support their future success. This educational experience helped students strengthen their college and career goals while encouraging them to pursue higher education and workforce opportunities.

Meal box distribution is taking place today for children ages 18 and under at designated locations throughout Wilkinson County.
🍎 Don’t forget! Children may also enjoy FREE meals on-site Monday through Thursday at:
• Wilkinson County Elementary School
• Wilkinson County Middle/High School
⏰ Breakfast: 9:00–9:30 AM
⏰ Lunch: 11:00–11:30 AM

Wilkinson County Schools will operate on an early release schedule on Thursday, May 21, the last day of school. All students will be released at 1:00 PM. Please plan for student pickup and transportation accordingly.

And our industry tour continues!
Georgia Power invited our YES Program students to tour Plant Scherer. While there, students experienced what it takes to power homes and businesses in Georgia and its neighboring states.
Georgia Power showed students chemistry and engineering in action. Students dove into how the smoke produced from burning coal is cleaned to convert toxic materials into safe ones, while also seeing how each step of the power production process affects the next.
Like all of our tours last week, Georgia Power emphasized workplace safety. We are so excited to know that students in the YES Program are off to a strong start with their OSHA-10 Safety Certification. Thank you, Mrs. Hunter, Mr. A. Brown, and all involved who helped make these tours and experiences possible!
