It's #RedRibbonWeek, a definite highlight of each school year. Students are met with classroom lessons about being drug free, essay and poster contests, and of course dress- up days! Here's a few photos of day 1, "Twinning is Winning- pairing up to be drug free."

During the month of October, the walls outside the WCPES media center have been filling up with book character pumpkins and scary stories.
Students in Pre-K-2nd grade were given the opportunity to disguise a paper or artificial pumpkin as a book character, so that it doesn't get carved, of course!
3rd-5th grades had the opportunity to write a two-sentence scary story. Participation has been great!
As classes come to the media center this week, students are voting on their favorite pumpkin or scary story.
The top three pumpkin and story winners will be announced Friday, October 31st, and will receive a candy bag.

We're gearing up for our annual recognition of Red Ribbon Week beginning Monday, October 27th!
Red Ribbon Week is an annual alcohol, tobacco, drug, and violence prevention campaign that takes place every October in the United States. Purpose: To educate the public about the dangers of drug use and encourage a drug-free lifestyle, particularly among young people.
Here are the details about our spirit week. Our school counselors are sharing information about the buildings, as well as other ways to celebrate, including poster and essay contests, assemblies, and more!

In the Month of October, Wilkinson County Schools proudly acknowledge National Bullying Prevention Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We encourage our staff and students to show their support Wednesday, October 22nd and again on Friday, October 24th. 🧡💜

Our first graders have been busy learning about weather and how scientists study it. As part of their unit, students created their own weather tool projects at home. They chose to either build a model (like a rain gauge or wind vane), design a poster, or write a short report explaining how their tool works. After completing their projects, students shared them with the class and explained what their weather tool measures and why it is important. We are so proud of their creativity, hard work, and excitement for science!

It's #SchoolLunchWeek and Taco Tuesday in the Warrior Chophouse!
A balanced lunch is like refueling a car—it gives the body and brain the energy needed to stay focused, alert, and active.
For children and students, it supports concentration, memory, and mood, which are all crucial for learning and development.
From the looks of it, our students leave satisfied, too!

🌟 Today we celebrate Custodian Appreciation Day! 🌟
Our custodians are the heart of our school—keeping our building safe, clean, and welcoming every single day. From early mornings to late evenings, they work behind the scenes to make sure students and staff have the best environment to learn and grow.
💙 Thank you for all you do, for your hard work, dedication, and care for our school family. We couldn’t do it without you

Mrs. Johnson may be new to the role but not to the calling!
Her commitment, resilience, and ability deserves to be celebrated this October and everyday after. The work you do is meaningful, impactful, and appreciated!

Our students had a wonderful time at our Book Tasting event!
📚 Grades 1–5 sampled a variety of books and ended their “tasting” with a sweet treat.
🍪 Pre-K and Kindergarten students enjoyed a lively read-aloud of The Gingerbread Girl Goes Animal Crackers and were delighted with animal crackers to go along with the story.
It was a fun way to celebrate reading and spark excitement for books across all grade levels!
Thank you to our Media Specialist, Mrs. Fowler, for continuing to shine a light on literacy at WCPES!
