Our 3rd graders are WILD about our learning in Science class. They discussed the 5 Georgia Regions and created a project. After an in-depth lesson on each region, students chose the area they wanted to learn more about. Each student had to complete a travel log containing information about the culture, land features, location, plants and animals, and any famous or important places in that region! Hello, WCES Family! It's time for our Spring Book Fair! The book fair will run next week, February 3-7. Our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a book vending machine for our students!! Flyers went home today. Scholastic is offering access to e-Wallet. You can load money for your student to spend. Wilkinson County Schools will continue asynchronous learning on Friday, January 24, due to ongoing safety concerns with road conditions that impact several bus routes.
We have consulted with our Transportation Director, County Road Supervisor, and local LEA to make this decision with safety as our top priority. We plan to resume normal operations on Monday, January 27.

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news about our classroom book club, which has been an enriching experience for our students this week. The enthusiasm and engagement displayed by our students during these sessions have been nothing short of inspiring. Each week, students will gather to explore the story Wonder by R.J Palacio which will challenge their perspectives and ignite their imaginations. Through lively discussions, collaborative activities, and creative projects, they are not only enhancing their reading skills but also building valuable friendships and fostering a love of literature. The book club will also provide a platform for students to express themselves, share insights, and develop critical thinking skills in a supportive environment. Ms. L. Cooper expects to see remarkable growth as her book club learns to appreciate diverse narratives and perspectives. We encourage families to engage in conversations about the books being read at home! After reading Wangari Maathai and the Green Belt Movement, students in Mrs. Griffin’s class got creative! They combined art and knowledge by drawing pictures and sharing facts about the Green Belt Movement, learning how one person’s vision can make a global impact. 🌍✏️
